JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greet and interact with customers

• Organize and effectively merchandise items for sale

• Consult with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise

• Assist customers with purchase decisions; Demonstrate and explain merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for the customers’ needs

• Utilize customer-focused selling skills, add-on selling, closing skills, and other sales generating skills

• Accurately complete sales using the point-of-sale system according to established procedures

• Process returns and exchanges

• Monitor all merchandise for correct location assignments, accurate and clean bin labels, expired products, and stock rotation

• Assist customers by loading and unloading products as needed

• Maintain product stock in the store and warehouse

• Assemble products and displays

• Dispense propane and kerosene

• Safely operate a forklift

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment

• Practice punctual and reliable attendance

• Exhibit an ability to get along with others

• Perform other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma (or equivalent)

• Possess a valid driver license and maintain a safe driving record

• Must pass pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment

• Proficiency using Microsoft Windows

• Physical ability to stand for extended periods; bend, stoop and kneel frequently

• Lift, carry and load 60 pounds (minimum) weight requirements

• Professional appearance and demeanor

• Proven track record of being dependable and reliable

• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with co-workers and customers

• Strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and analytical skills

• Commitment to excellence & high standards especially in terms of providing outstanding customer service

• Experience working in a retail setting preferred

• Product knowledge in one or more of the following areas preferred: feed, seed, pet food & supplies, horse/equine, hardware, fencing, lawn & garden supplies, animal health, tack, clothing & footwear, or wild bird supplies.

SCHEDULE

This is a part time position; 16 – 32 hours per week (schedule may vary). Sunday through Saturday. Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

$16.80 – $19.80/hour. A wage will be further discussed during the interview process. In addition to generous employee discounts, the company offers a 401(k)-retirement match and medical benefits upon meeting eligibility requirements.
